Palmers Green Residential Revitalisation: Urban Transformation Project
Palmers Green, Enfield, London, UK
Simon Kaufman Architects is proud to present our designs for new housing on unused land in Palmers Green, Enfield. Our proposal introduces a new compact residential apartment building, maximising land use efficiency. The design will unleash the site's potential, fostering a vibrant and sustainable urban environment and addressing the pressing need for new housing.
Strategically located near a district centre and accessible by public transport with a PTAL rating of 4, our proposal responds to the local authority's desire for residential street frontage at the rear of the existing offices. We plan to introduce seven apartments which will meet Enfield's housing mix targets; and comply with the Nationally Described Space Standards and London Plan best practice guidance, ensuring optimal living spaces for residents.
Key features include a pedestrian-friendly entrance directly from the street, accessible parking, and cycle storage compliant with London Cycle Design Standards. With communal landscaping and private amenity spaces, our design enhances the neighborhood's appeal while promoting sustainable living.
Arranged around a central core with a lift and staircase designed for accessibility and fire safety, our arrangement maximises functionality while maintaining compliance with Building Regulations. The building's external alignment with adjacent blocks ensures a strong urban design and will contribute to a lively street scene.
Our proposal serves as a catalyst for positive change, offering a model for sustainable urban living. We are committed to shaping a vibrant, inclusive future for Palmers Green, enriching the community with thoughtful, contemporary design solutions.
